CAID seeks artist for solo exhibition
The Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit (CAID) will be holding a member’s exhibition at its Ladybug Gallery in SW Detroit on September 18. Artists that participate in this exhibition will be considered for a solo exhibition.
All artists are invited to bring work of any size, medium or quantity and install in any location in the gallery on a first come basis. The member’s exhibition will provide awards to artists selected by CAID board chairperson and curator Aaron Timlin. [read more]

Detroit Music Goes 3D
A 3D documentary of Detroit's indie rock scene
“D3D”, a solo exhibition featuring the work of Chris Dean, is a three dimensional showcase of Detroit's music from 2008 to 2009.
D3D is the first 3D photo documentary of a region’s music and the first large scale exploration of music using the lenticular process. It portrays 20 Detroit indy rock bands performing live in bars, halls and theaters across Detroit.. Over 27,000 photos were taken during dozens of late night performances. The exhibit celebrates Detroit's unique perspective on rock music and the 3D and lenticular medium draws the viewer into unique moments of time and space. Continue...
Support A New Radio Project
The Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit's Ladybug Studio and Hamtramck’s new AM 1610 (http://station.hamtramckstar.com/) announce a new collaborative endeavor that will provide a radio journalism and production program for high school students living in Hamtramck and Southwest Detroit. Students' work will air on AM 1610 in both communities and online streaming across the globe. The focus of the Expose Yourself to Art Radio program will be the coverage and reporting of community arts by youth interviewers and producers. [read more] |
