Programming at Ladybug Studios
The Imagination Project
Ladybug Studios believes that inter-generational programs promote the transmission of cultural traditions and values from older to younger generations, helping to build a sense of personal and societal identity while encouraging tolerance.
Our board and instructors have designed the Imagination Project to strengthen the community of Southwest Detroit. The project allows students to visually animate on video the stories told by seniors during recorded interviews with youth. These stories will later be represented in a large, colorful ceramic mural that will be installed for public benefit in Detroit's Clark Park. It is the purpose of the program to dispel inaccurate Stereotypes through sharing and developing talents and resources that will help to create a unified group identity.
CAIDradio
CAIDradio is Ladybug Studio's radio journalism and production program, broadcasting from the media lab in the Whitdel Building in Southwest Detroit.
The focus of the program is the coverage and reporting of community arts, as well as social and political issues relevant to Detroit, by interviewers and producers. The aim of the music program is also to increase public exposure of Michigan-based musicians and labels, and make their music more available to the public, CAIDradio was provided seed funding with the generous financial support of the Kresge Foundation.
